5 Reasons Why Super Mario Run is A Flop
Super Mario Run Despite of its Marketing Hype Gets Flop Here’s Why. Super Mario Run By Nintendo Corporation had created a hype for more than 6 months before even the launch on the android platform. Super Mario Run initially was proving a market success for the Nintendo Corporation as it resulted in 2.8% increase in the company share but all that glitter is not gold. Despite of 40 Million Downloads in just 4 days Super Mario Run was quite a flop as its was criticized negatively and badly effecting its rating drop to average of 2.5/5.
Quality of the Game
Despite Nintendo corporation is a very huge gaming market giant and knowing that they will spend every penny to make their product up to user’s requirement. Don’t get us wrong the Super Mario Run is quite a mediocre game with relatively and definitely very ordinary graphics as compared to Nintendo corporation other games.
Many users also complained about the control and also said that the gameplay was not smooth. So overall the quality is we think what was overlooked by Nintendo corporation.
Review by a user:
There simply isn’t enough player control to make this engaging and fun. I want to be able to jump and also reverse direction when I want to. Nintendo should have built this with two modes: One-handed like it is now, and a second one with direction and jump controls. Such a shame… and I’m a long-time Mario fan, going back to Donkey Kong days.
Short and Repetitive Game
2nd Reason which we think is that game is too short. There are 24 levels and although you can play a level as many time as you can but one of the main reason was the shortness and repetitiveness of the game. Original Mario Series had 32 level and we think that the Nintendo had cut down those level with some improvised graphics and gameplay and made the whole theme of the Super Mario Run. Unlike Star Force Reloaded the Nintendo has not taken serious interest in game’s UI.
Buy to Play
The biggest and the major reason why the game was a flop that you have to buy the full version for $10. Demo version allows you to play only 3 Level after which you have to buy the full version. Plus you have to buy over and over again for more than one account.
The 4th reason is that there you need a continuous internet connection for its gameplay. If you don’t have an internet connection than you are not eligible to play Super Mario Run. It looks like that the Nintendo Corporation has tried to mix multiplayer game feature with an arcade type single player game. We don’t know what Nintendo thought but overall it had effected its game rating badly.
Over-hyping the Game
Some marketer have considered the over hyping of the game as the reason that made Super Mario Flop. It was been marketed before even the release and the hype before the release was to its full extend. But to bad excess of everything is bad and the more the hype the more users were expecting from it. But Nintendo might overlooked and created too much hype.
